About us and the horse Gullfaxe
The horse Gullfaxe, or Guldmane as he was also known, was, according to the Nordic mythology, the horse of the giant Hrunger.
Gullfaxe was a really fast horse that could move on land, in water and in the air, and could run so fast that his mane caught on fire. Gullfaxe and Sleipner were ridden in a race by Odin and Hrunger after the giant thought Gullfaxe was the fastest in the world. The giant Hrunger was the strongest and largest of all the giants in the giant kingdom of Jotunheim. He also wore a shield made of granite, so you can imagine that Gullfaxe must have been very strong to be able to carry him and move so fast.
Even though Gullfaxe was fast, he always had to fight in various races as his owner, the giant Hrunger, was very boastful about his horse being the fastest. Gullfaxe never gave up, even though he sometimes ended up in tricky situations thanks to his unbearable owner.
For us, the name Gullfaxe stands for passion, a strong and stately figure that stands firm, even in tough situations and never gives up on what it believes in.
When we started Gullfaxe Equestrian Studio, we had a vision to offer horse and rider equipment and accessories at a good price while protecting animals and nature. We design and produce a large part of our range ourselves, using carefully selected materials and factories. We work with both Asia and Europe and are equally careful to control the entire production chain regardless of continent. We have chosen to work largely with smaller factories and sometimes even a single family. We want our money to go to the person who actually does the work, and we want to be able to influence and communicate directly with the worker. Our long-distance transportation is always by boat or train and we always co-transport all our products, even if they are made in different places and only ship a few times a year. Therefore, it can sometimes take a while before we get a sold-out product back in stock.
Of course, we wish that all our production could take place in Sweden, but the final price to you as a consumer would be far too high. We want everyone to be able to afford to buy from us, as what we earn also goes to making the world a little better for our planet and those who live here.
Animal welfare is something we are particularly passionate about and we work daily to give back a portion of our profits to various charitable causes. However, we want to be able to do even more and therefore we will start up Gullfaxe Animal welfare organization in 2025. We will then be able to contribute to better animal welfare in a more proactive way.
Gullfaxe Equestrian Studio is owned and operated by Charlotte and Sergio Falck-Kulinich, we also have a small shop in Ladan Öråkers Gård in Kungsängen outside Stockholm from spring 2025.
